Virtualization

It cuts capital and operating costs, keeps applications highly available and minimizes downtime. It improves IT productivity, efficiency and agility, with faster provisioning of applications and resources, support for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, and centralized management.

Technologies

The technologies we use

The virtualization solutions we use: we work mainly with Hyper-V, and also use VMware where needed.

First choice

Microsoft Hyper-V

Type 1 (bare-metal) hypervisor built into Windows Server. Live migration of virtual machines with no downtime, Hyper-V Replica for disaster recovery, checkpoints for fast restores and high availability through Failover Clustering. Centralized management with Windows Admin Center and System Center.

Where needed

VMware vSphere / ESXi

The industry-standard virtualization platform for the enterprise. vMotion for live workload migration, High Availability (HA) and Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) for load balancing and continuity, centralized management with vCenter Server. Ideal for established multi-vendor environments.

Frequently asked questions

It is a technology that lets you run several "virtual" computers (servers, with their own operating systems and applications) on a single physical machine. Instead of buying lots of servers, you use one and make far better use of it.

It cuts hardware, energy and space costs, lets you spin up new environments in hours instead of days, and better protects your business: if a physical server fails, the virtual machines can restart elsewhere, reducing downtime.

Yes. Even with just a few servers, virtualization simplifies backups, updates and recovery, and lets you grow by adding resources without starting over.

No. Your applications keep working as before: only the way the servers are hosted and managed changes, transparently for users.

Virtualization supports high availability and Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans: systems and data can be replicated, so recovery is fast in the event of failures or incidents.

Mainly Hyper-V, with VMware as an option when needed.

Yes, it reduces capital and operating costs and improves application availability.
